Volkswagen Golf R - sports all-wheel drive three- or five-door hatchback. It is a sports modification of the sixth generation of Golf. Unlike the 210-horsepower Golf GTI for Golf R provides a more powerful engine, as well as an all-wheel drive system. External differences are not so dramatic and you can distinguish the Golf GTI from the Golf R only by different bumpers, a different rear diffuser and a special design of 18-inch rims.
Volkswagen Golf R is equipped with a 255-horsepower 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine. In Ukraine, the motor can be aggregated with both a six-speed "mechanics" and a preselective "robot" DSG, which provides faster gear changes in automatic mode. With a manual transmission, the Golf R accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds, and with a robotic one in 5.5 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
Four-wheel drive is implemented using a Haldex clutch, which distributes the ratio of traction between the front and rear axles depending on the surface. In addition, a sporty rigid suspension and sharp steering settings are responsible for the grip and handling of the Volkswagen R.
The main competitors of the model are 250-horsepower Ford Focus ST and 260-strong Mazda3 MPS, but unlike the “charged” Golf, the rivals have only the front axle. Serial production of the Volkswagen Golf R has been established at the German plant in Wolfsburg.
