Volkswagen Scirocco - a four-seater hatchback, which is often referred to as a "coupe" because of the silhouette. Thanks to its design, the Volkswagen Scirocco stands out from the model range of the brand, whose cars are usually famous for their conservative appearance. Adds a coupe-like appearance to the three-door hatchback and lack of window frames. The drive of the car is front.
In the lineup of the brand Scirocco is by no means a novelty. The first generation of the car saw the light in 1974, and in 1982 the second generation debuted, which was produced for ten years. In 2006, the company decided to revive the model and introduced a prototype called the Volkswagen Iroc, which became a production car in 2008. Throughout its history, the model has used the same platform as the Volkswagen Golf. Was no exception and the last, already the third generation of the car.
However, unlike its co-platformer, Scirocco has always been positioned as a car with a sporty character, which is responsible for sharper steering, lowered suspension and powerful engines. The range of Volkswagen Scirocco engines includes modern turbocharged gasoline units of the TSI family with a volume of 1.4 (160 hp) and 2 liters (210 hp). The choice of the buyer is available as a six-speed manual transmission, and preselective DSG dual-clutch robotic boxes. A seven-speed “robot” is offered for a 160-horsepower engine, and a six-speed one for a 210-horsepower engine.
The standard equipment of the Volkswagen Scirocco includes frontal airbags, as well as side airbags for front and rear passengers, anti-lock brakes (ABS), road stability (ESP), traction control (ASR), electronic differential lock (EDS).
Although the Scirocco is front-wheel drive, the rear axle is made 6 millimeters wider than the front to improve handling. Standard alloy wheels are 17 inches. With the "bad roads" package, the clearance is 142 millimeters.
The sporty character of the interior is accentuated by a beveled three-spoke steering wheel. In addition, sports seats are installed in the car. Even the two rear passenger seats have pronounced lateral support. Volkswagen Scirocco is available in ten body color options - from standard white and black to bright blue, red and green. There are also eight upholstery options - four fabric and four leather.
If you do not make a rigid reference to the number of doors, the power of the power plants, but take into account only the image component, then the Volkswagen Scirocco competitors can be attributed to the three-door version BMW 1 Series, Citroen DS4, Hyundai Veloster, Opel Astra GTC, Peugeot RCZ and even hybrid Honda CR-Z.
Scirocco is produced on the assembly line of the Volkswagen plant in Portugal.
