For designers Volkswagen  managed to fundamentally change the appearance of the T6 model without changing the proportions and characteristic "angular" features of the car - like a person who changed an already high-quality suit for an expensive model for several thousand dollars. This effect was achieved thanks to the new head optics with a modified internal structure, a different radiator grille with thicker stripes and rectangular foglights that are more appropriate for such a “square” car. The rear lights have also been updated, the side lines of the body have been “sharpened”, and an integrated spoiler has appeared on the trunk lid.

The cabin has new, better and more wear-resistant skin materials, a modern dashboard and a multimedia system with a 6.33-inch screen. With the generation update, a special version of Generation Six appeared in the Transporter versions, which is distinguished by a two-tone body color, LED headlights and more expensive interior equipment.

Even more important changes have occurred with the technical component of the "sixth" Volkswagen Multivan. The car received as an additional option an adaptive suspension DCC (Dynamic Cruise Control) with variable damping stiffness, which have three presets: Comfort, Normal and Sport. In addition, the T6 is offered with ACC adaptive cruise control, which tirelessly monitors the distance to the car in front, as well as an emergency braking system at low speeds (up to 30 km / h). The list of options also includes the proprietary Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which does not allow the car to move by inertia after a collision in an accident.

The T6 engine range is represented by turbo units: diesel TDI and gasoline TSI. "Heavy fuel" engines with a volume of 2.0 liters have three performance options: 102, 140 and 180 hp. The initial one is combined with a 5-speed "mechanics", 140-horsepower - with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed "robot" DSG, and 180-horsepower (which is also installed on the all-wheel drive version) - only with DSG. TSI gasoline engines are available in 150 and 204 hp versions. The first is aggregated with a 6-speed "mechanics", the second - with a 7-speed DSG.
