Volkswagen Golf Variant - front-wheel drive station wagon C-class. In terms of trunk volume, the model is one of the class leaders. For comparison, with a length of 4,562 mm, the Golf Variant normally holds 605 liters of cargo, and for example, 4.6-meter Chevrolet Cruze Station Wagon And Opel Astra Sports Tourer ready to take in the "hold" only 500 liters of luggage.
Nevertheless, there are models that are inferior to Golf. In particular, the "German" loses to another car of the concern - Skoda Octavia Combi, which, like the universal Golf, is built on the new MQB platform. Thanks to the extended wheelbase with the rear seats folded down, Skoda provides 1,740 liters to the Golf's 1,620.
Prices for the new Golf Variant announced in July 2013. Three trim levels are available for the model: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. It is noteworthy that already in the basic version, the five-door has 9 airbags, as well as exchange rate stability (ESP) and electronic simulation of front differential lock (XDS +).
The list of offered motors depends on the configuration. In total, the following engines were included in the range of power plants:
petrol 1.2 TSI (105 hp, 175 Nm), which can be paired with both a six-speed “mechanics” and a seven-speed “robot” DSG;
1.4 TSI (122 hp, 200 Nm and 140 hp, 250 Nm), which can also be aggregated with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-band robotic transmission;
diesel 2.0 TDI (110 hp, 250 Nm), which is offered with a five-speed "mechanics" and a six-speed "robot".
Unlike the hatchback, the Volkswagen Golf Variant is produced at the same company's plant in Mexico where the Volkswagen Beetle is produced.
