Volkswagen T-Cross - a compact front-wheel drive crossover, which is a "raised" version of the Volkswagen Polo hatchback with an original design and body. Built on the MQB-A0 platform with a beam in the rear suspension.

The T-Cross, which appeared at the end of 2018, differs from the related Polo model, first of all, by its increased ground clearance to 184 mm and a higher (+10 mm) landing in the cabin. It is also 54 mm longer and 97 mm higher than the hatchback (4107 and 1558 mm, respectively), but the wheelbase (2563 mm) and width (1750 mm) of these Volkswagens are the same.

The main feature of the interior is that in all versions of the T-Cross, the three-seat rear seat can be moved completely back and forth by 14 cm, thereby changing the available space for passengers or the contents of the trunk. By the way, the minimum volume of the luggage compartment is 385 liters, which is 34 liters more than the Polo. If the second row is moved all the way forward, the trunk will hold 455 liters, but the maximum volume with the back row folded down is 1281 liters. As an additional option, a folding backrest of the front passenger seat is provided for the transport of long items.

European buyers of the T-Cross have a choice of four engines. The basic version has a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI turbo engine with 95 hp. in combination with a five-speed "mechanics". A more powerful (115 hp) 1.0 TSI turbo three is aggregated with a six-speed “mechanics” or a seven-speed “robot” DSG. And the most dynamic version is equipped with a 1.5 TSI turbo four with a capacity of 150 hp. with the function of shutting off two cylinders at low loads. Such cars are produced only with a DSG box. In addition, there is a diesel modification of the "T-Cross" with a four-cylinder 1.6 TDI engine with 95 hp, paired with a "mechanics" or a "robot".
