Volkswagen Golf GTI - a sports version of the most popular model of the concern. What's more, the Golf GTI is also the best-selling car in the so-called "hot hatchback" class. The sixth generation of the model has sold about 200 thousand units in three years, and if you count the number of GTI Golfs produced since 1976, then an impressive number of 1.9 million copies will be displayed on the scoreboard.

In the seventh generation, the hot hatch became a little more powerful (220 hp versus 200), and also got an additional Performance version, accelerating to one hundred kilometers per hour in 6.4 seconds. The essence of the “performance” is an additional 10 horsepower and an electro-hydraulic self-locking differential.

After the update at the end of 2016, the standard modification of the Golf GTI received a boost to 230 hp. (350 Nm) TSI turbo engine in combination with a 6-speed DSG "robot". And the Germans ordered the Performance version with a 245-horsepower (370 Nm) engine and a 7-band DSG.

But even GTI without the Performance prefix has something to please. For example, a "shortened" steering wheel, which instead of three turns in its predecessor now makes 2.1 turns. In addition, even a regular GTI knows how to “correctly” take corners. This is aided by the XDS+ electronic 'self-locking' simulation, which safely brakes the inside wheels in the direction of the turn even when the driver is not using the brake pedal.

At the same time, acceleration to “hundreds” of a 230-horsepower “Golf” takes almost the same as that of the Performance version - 6.4 seconds versus 6.2 seconds. The maximum speed of hatchbacks is limited to 248 km/h.
